主要讲述八虎山下的一群放牛的老人，他们起初单纯依靠种地生活，但是随着对生活水平的要求越来越高，单纯的种植已经不能满足，因此，当地村民很多都开始养牛，通过放牛提高家庭收入，从而改善家庭生活。肖文彬老人一家是八虎山下放牛村民的真实写照。本片主要通过拍摄肖文彬放牛的一天，他从早上七点多出去放牛一直到下午太阳落山。本片运用解说的方式加以表现，从外方导演的角度为我们呈现出一个全新的视角来看待中国东北的传统的放牛农民。

脱贫攻坚是时代赋予每一个扶贫工作者时代任务和光荣使命。王书记从2016年在沈阳市苏家屯开始种植北虫草，带领大家发家致富，几乎全村的村民都在种植北虫草，带动全村经济。北虫草属于一种菌类，可以煲汤养生，火锅等等，分为种植、烘干、打包、销售等基本工序，村民们各司其职。近年来，政府把脱贫攻坚作为头等大事和第一民生工程。北虫草成为村与村、乡与乡之间联系的纽带，家庭生产积极性有了很大的提高，在脱贫攻坚和巩固发展中开创了颇具特色的经验。
