“Planting a tree is harder than raising a child.” After nearly two decades, one woman’s nearly impossible dream of creating a lush forest in a barren wasteland is finally taking root and flourishing. In the Qinghai province of China, Xie Jing has planted nearly 3 million trees in the harsh climate of Xining, turning the Huoshaoguo Fire Ditch into a beautiful and green paradise. But this green dream is not without its fair share of struggles. Xie Jing has overcome financial, physical, and emotional challenges in order to see her dream come true. She shares the challenges she’s faced over the years and the journey of cultivating the land and her dream.
