The film follows Mr. Lu Chengbo, a craftsman who works towards the repairing and preservation of old ancient chinese texts at the Shanghai Library. He unravels the complete process of repairing a book, starting from when it comes in all damaged and worn out to it being totally restored back to its initial glory. The film tries to explore the long and often tedious process of saving a piece of history from biting the dust. We hear Mr. Lu’s opinion on what his craft really entails and what sort of responsibilities come along with being a master craftsman.
