Embroidery is an important symbol of women of Tu ethnic minority. In the past, every Tu girl would follow her mother or grandma when she was young to learn embroidery. People used to hold feudal ideas about women. They believed that women should learn embroidery instead of going to school. The grandmother in this film began to learn embroidery at a very young age. At the age of fifteen, she began to prepare her dowry, but she did not go to school. Meanwhile, Mrs. Zhu, as the protagonist of the film, did not attend school because she studied embroidery from an early age. But with the change of times and concepts, girls gradually began to go to school, to get in touch with new knowledge, and embroidery and customs of women of the Tu nationality gradually changed. Embroidery is no longer a burden for women, but rather a culture that they choose to accept and inherit.
刺绣是土族妇女的重要标志。在过去，每一个土族女孩都会跟随她的母亲或祖母在她小的时候学习刺绣。人们过去对妇女持有封建观念，认为女人应该学刺绣而不是上学。这部影片中的老奶奶从小就开始学习刺绣。十五岁时，她开始准备嫁妆，而她没有去上学。同时，朱女士作为电影的主人公，她也是从小就学刺绣，没有上学。但随着时代和观念的变化，女孩们逐渐开始上学，接触新知识，土族妇女刺绣的习俗逐渐发生了改变。刺绣不再是女性的一种负担，而变成了一种她们选择接受并将继承的文化。
