3月15日，第98届奥斯卡金像奖颁奖典礼落下帷幕，最佳影片之争在《一战再战》与《罪人》之间持续到最后一刻。
最终，由保罗·托马斯·安德森执导的《一战再战》成为当晚最大赢家。该片此前获得13项提名，最终斩获包括最佳影片、最佳导演、最佳男配角、最佳改编剧本、最佳剪辑以及奥斯卡历史上首次设立的最佳选角在内的六项大奖。影片讲述一位落魄革命者为保护女儿安全，与昔日敌人再次对抗的故事。
同样备受关注的《罪人》则以16项提名创下本届奥斯卡提名纪录。影片由瑞恩·库格勒执导，以蓝调音乐的起源和美国南方黑人文化为背景，最终获得四项大奖，包括迈克尔·B·乔丹获得的最佳男主角奖，以及最佳原创剧本、最佳摄影和最佳原创配乐。两部影片均由华纳兄弟影业制作发行，其母公司为华纳兄弟探索公司。
其他奖项方面，《弗兰肯斯坦》获得最佳服装设计、最佳化妆与发型设计和最佳艺术指导三项技术类大奖；《Kpop猎魔女团》获得最佳动画长片，并拿下最佳原创歌曲。《哈姆奈特》主演杰西·巴克利凭借出色表演摘得最佳女主角，《情感价值》获得最佳国际影片。《F1：狂飙飞车》与《阿凡达3》也各自收获一个奖项。
